Seven successful kidney transplants performed in Taiz with support from Tawakkol Karman Foundation
The Heart Center in Taiz recently carried out seven successful kidney transplant operations, supported by Tawakkol Karman Foundation as part of a humanitarian initiative targeting patients with chronic kidney failure from various Yemeni governorates.
The beneficiaries included Taj Sadeq Al-Gilani (30) from Hodeidah, who received a kidney from his sister; Nawal Montazem Amin (23) from Taiz, who was donated a kidney by her brother; Murad Ahmed (27) from Ibb; Khaled Saeed (43) from Abyan; and Helmi Mohammed (39) from Taiz—all of whom received donations from their siblings. The operations also covered Aqab Hassan, an 11-year-old child from Hajjah, whose father donated a kidney, and Mohammed Salem Al-Honash (54) from Taiz, whose son was the donor.
These surgeries are part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support Yemen’s health sector. Last year alone, Tawakkol Karman Foundation helped finance dozens of similar kidney transplant operations for patients across the country.
The foundation emphasized that this support falls under its humanitarian programs aimed at alleviating the suffering of patients and increasing access to life-saving healthcare, particularly amid the current challenges facing the country.
All patients are currently receiving post-operative care and are recovering well. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Tawakkol Karman Foundation for this vital and compassionate initiative.
