As part of its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs, Tawakkol Karman Foundation, through its "Haith Al-Insan" program in its seventh season, supported Iman Saeed, a determined woman from Hadiboh, Socotra, by providing her with a dedicated shop to sell perfumes and women’s products—reviving her hope and improving her income.
At 45 years old, Iman spoke of the challenges Socotri women face in finding suitable work, noting that many turn to farming or small-scale trade to cope with daily hardships. Despite difficult circumstances, she refused to give up—working across multiple fields, from agriculture to selling drinks to children, and eventually perfumes and incense.
Supporting two sons and two daughters, Iman always dreamed of owning her own business—a step toward financial independence and stability for her family.
The Haith Al-Insan program responded by renting a shop for Iman and sourcing her inventory from Aden and Mukalla, enabling her to offer a wider variety of products and attract more customers.
Iman expressed her deep gratitude, saying the support transformed her life, giving her a chance to improve her financial situation and find professional stability. Owning her own store, she added, gave her new confidence and helped her achieve her long-held dream of working independently—free from job constraints.
