Through its "Haith Al-Insan" program in its seventh season, Tawakkol Karman Foundation has supported and rehabilitated a physical therapy and rehabilitation center in the Al-Shamsara area of Al-Shamayatayn district, Taiz governorate.
In the heart of rural Taiz, families arrive each day carrying their children on their shoulders—undaunted by distance or fatigue—with faces glowing with hope. At Al-Irada Center, hope meets reality, and the journey toward healing begins.
Umm Mansour, a mother visiting the center, shared: "I’ve been bringing my son here for over a year. He couldn’t move at all, but now he’s improving every day, thank God. The center is vital for children and needs ongoing support to provide the equipment necessary to help them walk. There were children I never thought would walk again—now some of them have left the center because they can."
Adnan Al-Hammadi, the center’s physiotherapist, explained: "We started the center a year and a half ago. I’m proud to be here, supporting children with special needs. The center operates with minimal funding, just enough to cover rent and basic needs—there’s no consistent backing to fully sustain the project."
He added: "We treat conditions like cerebral palsy, strokes, herniated discs, muscle tension, nerve inflammation, and more. Despite our limited resources, many cases have shown great improvement—some have even fully recovered."
Al-Hammadi emphasized the urgent need for specialized equipment such as the spider cage system, stimulators, infrared therapy, and massage tools, noting: "The more tools we have, the better the results."
In response, Tawakkol Karman Foundation conducted a full assessment of the center’s needs and began supplying the most advanced medical equipment. The center was renovated and reorganized, a solar power system was installed to keep medical equipment running, and urgent supplies for the children were provided.
Among the essential devices delivered were the Digital Ultra Sonic 123, shockwave therapy machines, physiotherapy massage and lighting devices, walking training tools, and the long-requested spider cage system and stimulators. A dedicated corner was also set up for wooden therapy tools—crafted and donated by an engineer who had recently received support from the same program.
Patients and staff confirmed that the center is now in much better condition. With all the necessary equipment finally available, the quality of care has improved dramatically. Filled with joy, they thanked the Haith Al-Insan program and Tawakkol Karman Foundation, expressing their gratitude for the life-changing support.
Thanks to this initiative, Al-Irada Center is now far more capable of supporting children in their recovery journeys, helping them move one step closer to a life filled with hope and possibility.
