In line with its efforts to empower Yemeni women, Tawakkol Karman Foundation, through its "Haith Al-Insan" program in its seventh season, launched a project in Marib to support a displaced perfume maker from Taiz, coinciding with Mother’s Day on March 21.
Umm Al-Waleed, the sole provider for her family, has faced many challenges to secure a decent living for her children. Through her dedicated work in perfume-making, she managed to build a source of income that helps her family endure life’s hardships.
She continues to fight her daily battle alone—resilient, persistent, and fueled by a heart that refuses to break, and if it does, she mends it in silence.
"My husband was injured in an accident and became unable to work, so I had to step up and learn the craft of making perfumes to support my family," she said.
To support her journey, the "Haith Al-Insan" program stepped in by providing her with equipment and raw materials, helping her expand her business and improve her economic situation.
This initiative is part of the program’s broader goal to support small, sustainable projects that strengthen Yemeni families' ability to cope with economic challenges.
Umm Al-Waleed expressed her gratitude for the support, noting that the project will significantly boost her work, increase her production, and help her secure a stable income for her and her family.
