Humanitarian Assistance Campaign in the Context of the Foundation’s Confrontation of Covid-19 Pandemic
As part of the quick humanitarian response plan adopted by Tawakkol Karman Foundation (TKF), during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Yemen,
helping patients most susceptible to the virus, those who suffer from chronic diseases, cancer, leprosy, and renal failure, the foundation launched its campaign on Sunday 17th of May, 2020, in three major hospitals in Taiz (the Al Jumhuri Hospital, Al-Thawra Hospital, and Leprosy Hospital), providing financial assistance of 44 million Yemeni Riyal for 1,145 patients, half of them are women.
The campaign aims to assist those most in need during the pandemic of Corona Virus and it is just the beginning of a multi-faceted response plan that will be implemented in the coming period as part of the foundation’s mission to assist Yemenis suffering the impacts of the ongoing six-year war in the country, who now have to face the risk of a pandemic, too challenging for major developed countries, with a collapsing health system.
