Soul and Art … the Pairs of Peace. Under that slogan, Tawakkol Karman Foundation and the Yemeni channel "Belqees" on Saturday, 20 Ramadan, 25 May 2019, held a Ramadan Iftar feast and evening in Istanbul, Turkey.
The evening was celebrated by the Moroccan artist, Rashid Gholam, in the region of Florya, with the participation of dozens of artists, legal workers, journalists and members of the Yemeni community.
The evening included Iftar feast for the audience and a talk session where guests talked about art and its relationship to faith, philosophy, Sufism and freedom.
And included religious songs and oratorios on the love of Allah and getting closer to Him and the love of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
"Ramadan started to have its special atmosphere of chant," Rashid Gholam said during the discussion session.
He added: "It is good to enter joy into the hearts of people in the holy month, through art and beauty … Allah’s signs in the universe was made for the sound people to reflect on God's ability to create beauty."
He continued: "Music is the beauty of Allah heard by the ear, which reaches the heart and gives it a deep spiritual sense, and if the soul is sound it may lead to Allah."
He also said “Art, religion and morality are supreme values, and according to the times associated with them, they rise or fall … and the beginning of art was lofty and heavenly, and it is part of the revealed knowledge, that was created by the creator”.
He stressed that "people found music in their search for Allah, and music was always sublime. The music declined when art was dedicated for power owners, and with the Arab Spring we discovered that the elite artists that were floating on the surface were subordinate to the regimes.
