Arab Spring Rekindled by Morocco Protests, Says Tawakkol Karman
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman expressed her support for the ongoing protests in Morocco, describing them as the beginning of a renewed wave of the Arab Spring emerging from the Maghreb region.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Karman said that the Arab Spring was returning from the Maghreb and praised what she called the determination of Moroccan youth in their pursuit of freedom and dignity.
She indicated that the protests in Morocco were drawing closer to the palace, stressing her pride in the Moroccan people and their resilience. Karman added that she felt both inspired and proud by the movement, emphasizing her belief that ultimate victory belongs to God.
Her comments place the demonstrations in Morocco within the broader context of the Arab Spring uprisings that first erupted in 2011 across several Arab countries.
