Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has sharply criticized Tunisian President Kais Saied, calling him "unfit, illegitimate, and incompetent" in a strong rebuke of his rule.
In a Facebook post, Karman demanded Saied’s resignation or removal, describing his rule as a “dark travesty.” She went on to compare him to a “broken robot gripping Tunisia,” voicing deep concern over the country’s political turmoil.
Karman has previously criticized Saied on multiple occasions. In December 2022, she referred to him as a "robot" who "dismantled democracy, overturned the constitution, and monopolized power." She also stated that the "stain of shame" would remain on Tunisia as long as Saied remained in office.
