Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference. The discussion focused on mechanisms to ensure that perpetrators of war crimes and human rights violations do not evade accountability.
Karman shared details of the meeting on her official Facebook page, stating that she and Türk exchanged views on pursuing justice for victims of massacres in Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Ukraine. She reiterated the importance of upholding international law and strengthening accountability frameworks to bring those responsible to justice.
The MSC 2025 has served as a marketplace for ideas, featuring a main program, about 200 official side events, and various public outreach activities. Karman's participation underscores her continued advocacy for human rights, justice, and the rule of law in conflict zones worldwide.
