Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, expressed her hope for peace to prevail worldwide in the new year, 2025.

In her official statement on her Facebook page, she said: "Happy New Year! In these turbulent times filled with events, let us hope that peace will prevail throughout the world, that the conflicts causing pain in our hearts will end, and that the Palestinian people will gain freedom and a dignified life." She added: "Let us congratulate the Syrian people for the fall of one of the most brutal dictatorial regimes in modern history, wishing them a promising and dignified future."
Karman further stated: "What I wish for Palestine and Syria is what I wish for my country, Yemen, which will soon see the light, despite the oppressors and the greedy." She concluded: "Let us turn our love into a weapon against war and chaos and a bridge for peace."
