Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights defender Tawakkol Karman has criticized Israel's ongoing destruction of Syrian military capabilities, asserting that these actions convey two significant messages.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Karman emphasized that Israel's actions indicate that Syrian military weapons were in secure hands, particularly concerning Israel's own defense interests. This undermines any narrative suggesting that these weapons posed a threat under responsible stewardship.
Additionally, she argued that Israel views a free Syria—emerging from the ongoing revolution—as an adversary, contrary to false claims of a cooperative relationship between Israel and the Syrian opposition.
Karman also asserted that a democratic and free Syria will ultimately reclaim control over its entire territory. "Every inch of land occupied in Syria will be reclaimed," she stated, noting that all occupations eventually come to an end, especially in the historic land of the Umayyads.
As soon as the announcement was made about the fall of President Bashar Assad's regime in Syria, Israel quickly carried out unprecedented airstrikes on Syrian army positions throughout the country.
