Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkol Karman, has taken part in a commemoration event at the Turkish Embassy in Qatar, marking the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Turkey's independence.
The event commemorated the founding of modern Turkey on October 29, 1923, by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, whose reforms established a secular and progressive nation-state from the remnants of the Ottoman Empire.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Karman has expressed admiration for Atatürk's pioneering leadership, saying, "We remember the founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his pioneering experience with great inspiration and pride."
