Nobel laureate accuses UAE of destabilizing Sudan with arms shipments
Human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tawakkol Karman, has reignited her condemnation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stating that the UAE is actively contributing to the destabilization of Sudan by supplying arms to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Karman, referencing a complaint lodged by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the United Nations, disclosed that an estimated 400 flights originating from the UAE to Chad have transported heavy and sophisticated weaponry destined for the RSF.
Highlighting the grave consequences of these actions, Karman underscored how such arms shipments undermine the stability of the Sudanese state and fuel societal unrest within Sudan. She cautioned that without decisive repercussions for the UAE's "destructive behavior," these activities are likely to persist.
Karman further suggested that a measured military response from Sudan, such as deploying drones over Dubai and Abu Dhabi, could prompt the UAE to reconsider its support for the RSF and adopt a more conciliatory stance towards Sudan.
