Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman's foundation has announced plans to sponsor the construction of a new basic and secondary school in Yemen's Taiz Governorate.
The school, named the Belqees Basic and Secondary School, will be located in the Al-Muzaffar District within the Belqees Educational Complex.
Tawakkol Karman, renowned for her staunch advocacy of human rights and women's rights, revealed that an agreement has been formalized with the Education Office in Taiz Governorate to commence the construction of this vital educational facility. The project aims to provide essential public general education services to the local community.
The construction of the Belqees Basic and Secondary School is scheduled to be completed in the coming months. Once operational, the school will serve hundreds of students in the Al-Muzaffar District and surrounding areas.
The initiative is the latest in a series of efforts by Karman's foundation to promote education and empowerment in Yemen. The foundation has previously supported the construction and rehabilitation of schools, provided scholarships to students, and organized educational workshops and training programs.
