Tawakkol Karman offers condolences on death of cleric Al-Zindani
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has expressed her condolences over the death of Yemeni cleric Sheikh Abdul Majeed Al-Zindani, who passed away today in a hospital in Istanbul, Turkey, at the age of 82.
Al-Zindani, a prominent figure in Yemeni society, was known for his Islamic scholarship and political activism. He founded the International Union of Muslim Scholars and served as a member of the supreme body of the Yemeni Reform Party. Al-Zindani authored numerous studies, most notably those related to the "Qur'anic miracle."
Following the Houthi militia's coup in September 2014, Al-Zindani left Sanaa and resided in Saudi Arabia before moving to Turkey in 2020.
In a statement released today, Karman extended her condolences to Al-Zindani's family, friends, and followers, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
