Tawakkol Karman questions Iranian support for Palestinian resistance amid retaliatory attacks
Nobel laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman took to Facebook to express her skepticism regarding Iranian support for the Palestinian resistance, following recent retaliatory attacks between Iran and Israel.
In a sarcastic tone, Karman questioned the integrity of Iran's backing while shedding light on the ongoing genocidal war faced by Palestinians.
Karman highlighted that Israel and the United States appeared well-informed about the nature, scale, and details of Iran's planned missile and drone strikes against Israel. According to her post, Iran deliberately ensured that both Israel and the US were aware of these attacks to allow them time to intercept and protect Israeli civilians, thereby avoiding any harm and subsequent retaliation.
Drawing parallels to a previous incident, Karman noted that Iran's damage-free and pre-announced response was not unprecedented. She referred to a similar pattern observed when Iran retaliated against the US for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force. This established an implied agreement between the parties, where Iran would respond in a safe and timely manner without endangering Israeli civilians, while Israel retained the freedom to target and strike any chosen objective.
Karman went on to assert that Iran's claimed contribution to the Palestinian struggle lacked substance. She argued that Iran could not provide what it did not possess, emphasizing the Palestinian movement's self-reliance in terms of arming, financing, courage, bravery, and willingness to make sacrifices. She further highlighted the movement's global solidarity and sympathy, which had caught Israel off guard and led to its perception as a pariah state.
The activist attributed the Palestinian resistance's association with Iran and its "Axis of Resistance" as a factor influencing the Palestinian cause itself. She criticized the track record of this axis, labeling it as deceitful and opportunistic. In her post, Karman conveyed a sense of skepticism, suggesting that the noise made by Iran and its allies did not align with any tangible actions or support for the Palestinian struggle.
