Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has issued a scathing critique of the "Iran axis" on her official Facebook page, accusing them of failing to meaningfully intervene in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.
Karman argues that despite possessing the capability to pressure Israel into a ceasefire, groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis engaged in limited actions that did not significantly disrupt Israel's operations.
Tawakkol Karman has highlighted the contrast between the Iranian inaction and the "steadfastness and sacrifices" of Palestinians in Gaza, emphasizing that the resilience and sacrifices of the Gazan people have significantly contributed to the mobilization of global pressure and solidarity, while noting that Israel now finds itself increasingly isolated and feeling like a pariah state.
The statement pointed out that the Iran axis, with its capabilities and influence in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, had the potential to impose a ceasefire on Israel during the initial week of the conflict. However, this action was not taken, and limited confrontations by Hezbollah and the Houthis failed to impose an unbearable cost on Israel.
Karman criticized individuals who accept the limited support and meager offerings from the Iran axis, stating, "Those who feel indebted and grateful to the Iran axis, and are content with 'what is available,' do so by comparing it to the betrayal and conspiracy orchestrated by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt."
She argued that these nations have not supported the Palestinian cause, instead aligning themselves as proponents of normalization rather than resistance. The logical comparison should be made between what the self-proclaimed Axis of Resistance could have offered and what it actually delivered, which Kerman regarded as mere crumbs.
Karman stated, "Our beloved ones who are content with the crumbs... We understand your conviction, which has been shaped by the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation amidst absolute Arab abandonment, which outweighs the impact the crumbs have had or will have in favor of the Palestinians. However, this is the major dilemma: while you settle for these crumbs, you demand everything from us, like labeling the killers of our peoples and their dreams as heroes."
