Nobel Laureate Tawakkol Karman criticizes US stance on Gaza catastrophe
In a scathing critique, human rights advocate and Nobel laureate Tawakkol Karman has called out the United States for its stance on the ongoing Gaza situation.
Karman voiced her dissatisfaction with the US opposition to a ceasefire and its failure to address Israel's shelling of the Gaza Strip.
Taking to her official Facebook page, Karman highlighted what she perceives as a paradoxical contradiction in the US position. Despite claiming to be against the killing of civilians in Gaza, the United States, according to Karman, surprisingly opposes a much-needed ceasefire. She deemed this contradiction to be unique to America, emphasizing that no other nation shares such contradictory stance.
Yesterday, the United States utilized its veto power within the UN Security Council to block the approval of a draft resolution that called for an "immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons" in the Gaza Strip. This decision was made despite the ongoing Israeli army bombings and the severe humanitarian crisis that the Strip has been experiencing for the past two months.
