Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman will participate in the Women Deliver 2023 Conference, where she will deliver a speech among thousands of other advocates, government representatives, private sector leaders, and youth from around the world.
The conference, which will take place from 17-20 July 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda, will bring together attendees both in-person and virtually, with an expected attendance of 6,000 people in-person and over 200,000 people online.
The Women Deliver conferences are known as one of the largest multi-sectoral convenings to advance gender equality, co-created by grassroots advocates, multilateral governments, the private sector, philanthropies, and youth, including from and representing communities facing systemic discrimination.
The theme of WD2023 is Spaces, Solidarity, and Solutions, with a focus on inclusive and co-created spaces that foster solidarity for sustainable solutions on gender equality. Karman's participation in the event is expected to bring attention to the ongoing struggles for women's rights and democracy in Yemen, as well as to the importance of intersectional feminist principles in advancing gender equality worldwide.
The conference will center on addressing compounding issues impacting girls and women and collectively identifying evidence-based solutions to improve their wellbeing in all their intersecting identities
