The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has condemned the attack of an armed group on the correspondents of Belqees TV Khalil al-Taweel and Ali al-Jaradi in Marib governorate, considering it a flagrant violation of freedom of press and expression. 

In a condemnation statement on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman has called on the official authorities in Marib to act on their duty to protect freedom of expression and investigate this crime, holding them fully accountable for the safety of the two correspondents and other media professionals.

In the same context, she has also called on the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate and defenders of local and international press freedom to denounce the attack and show solidarity with the attacked correspondents.
