Yemen will not disappear as Emirati-Saudi monarchies wish, Nobel laureate says
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human right activist Tawakkol Karman has been critical of an art production by the state-run UAE TV-Channel that included different Arab national anthems, performed by elite stars of the Arab world, for excluding Yemen’s anthem.
In a statement shared on social media, Tawakkol Karman wrote: “The rulers of the UAE and Saudi Arabia wish Yemen to disappear from the map.”
She also praised the singing activity by describing it as a big production, adding that “Only the national anthem of Yemen, the origin of the Arabs and their cradle, has been deliberately excluded”
Mrs. Karman pointed out that the rulers of the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, who have been waging war on Yemen for about eight years, wish to wake up from sleep to the disappearance of Yemen from the map.
