Tawakkol Karman praises Iranian women's straggle for freedom
The Nobel Peace Prize-winnig human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has saluted the straggle of Iranian women for freedom and salvation.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman wrote: "Glory to the Iranian woman as they are facing the repression of the mullahs' regime, armed with courage and moral commitment, and leading their people towards freedom and salvation."
It is noteworthy that women in Iran are leading the protests that erupted last September and extended from the Kurdistan region to Tehran, and from Mashhad to Tabriz, Hamadan and Bandar Abbas under the slogan "Women, Life and Freedom."
The women movement in Iran is one of the most important movements in contemporary Iranian history. Women in different political shifts Iran has experienced have always taken center stage.
