Nobel laureate expresses her full solidarity with academic kidnapped by Houthi militia
A well-known Yemeni academic and professor of sociology at the universities of Sana’a and Aden, along with his two companions, were kidnapped yesterday in Ibb Governorate and taken to an unknown location by the Iran-backed Houthi militia that has controlled the capital of Yemen since the end of 2014.
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has strongly condemned the kidnapping and called on various activists, organizations and political parties to condemn the fascist militia and put pressure on it to reveal the fate of the kidnapped.
In a statement on her official Facebook, the Nobel laureate has expressed her full solidarity with Dr. Hammoud al-Awdi, and his two companions Anwar Khaled Shaab and Abdul Rahman al-Olfi, calling for their immediate release.
She has also denounced arrests of activists and civilian figures who have a recognized role in promoting social peace and contributing to solving national problems, considering this a drain on the nation's resource of wisdom and the ability to solve problems.
