Inclusive and quality “education for all” is one of the most effective means to achieve both sustainable development and peace, said the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman.

In a speech during the Istanbul Education Summit organized by the Turkish Knowledge Foundation, Tawakkol Karman emphasized that education plays also an important part in promoting tolerance among people and contributing to a more peaceful society.  

Mrs. Karman added that conflicts represent the world's greatest development challenges, pointed out that children and education systems are often primary victims of violent conflicts.
