The Nobel Prize Committee today congratulated the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, on her birthday.

“Happy birthday to Tawakkol Karman, who co-founded the Women Journalists Without Chains to promote freedom of expression and democratic rights,” wrote the Nobel Committee on its official Twitter account today.

The committee noted that Tawakkol Karman shared the Nobel Prize in 2011 for her struggle for peace and women's rights.
