Tawakkol Karman: Houthi-Saleh militia is mainly and fully responsible for Yemen’s tragic situation
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Yemeni human rights activist Tawakkol Karman said the Houthi militia and the ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh must be held accountable for all tragedies and destruction that have taken place in Yemen during and after the coup they carried out.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Karman stated the fascist Houthi-Saleh militia bears full responsibility for all what Yemen has been suffering from as the coup carried out by the Iran-backed Shiite group and its close ally Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was overthrown in a popular uprising in 2011, undermined the political process along with all outcomes and agreements in the UN-brokered national dialogue.
On September 21, 2014, the Houthi militia backed by forces loyal to the ousted president Saleh invaded Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, overturned the internationally recognized government, seized control of power and started to wage a relentless war in the direction of the southern areas, which ended up with the intervention of the Saudi-led Arab coalition.
