Yemen’s Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has made ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Houthi militia responsible for what is happening in Yemen,
pointing out that the biggest mistakes made after February’s peaceful Revolution were granting immunity to the ousted president and allowing the Houthi militia to seize control of the country.
In an interview published today with Washington Post, Karman stated that ousted president Saleh and the Houthi militia allied with him are full responsible for what has happened, but the youth of the revolution have nothing to do with any failure.
The youth, she continued, made two mistakes after their revolution: they accepted to grant ousted president an immunity against all crimes he committed in the past, and allow him to continue in political activities.
From Nobel Laureate’s point of view, the gravest mistake lies in allowing the Houthi militia to seize control of other areas depending on force and oppression.
The responsibility to rescue the transitional process and build sustainable peace in Yemen, in her view, rests primarily with the international community, “which can do everything”.
Yemen’s iron woman stressed the youth of February Revolution still have a great dream and enough courage to achieve all objectives of their revolution in order to bring freedom, democracy and social welfare to the country.
“We are still peacefully struggling for ending the war in Yemen and reinstating the pre-coup situation, and moving toward to achieve values of the peaceful revolution.
