The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has expressed sincere condolences on the martyrdom of the commander of the third military region Maj. Gen. Abdrab Shaddadi, calling to bury him next to the hero of Yemen’s 26 September Revolution, Ali Abdel Moghny, in the province of Marib.
In a post published on her Facebook page, Karman saluted Shaddadi as the martyr who had the respect of everyone, and everyone was also proud of him, adding that his death was a terrible tragedy for all except the traitorous putschists.
As befits a man like him, she suggested, the martyr should be laid to rest beside the martyr Moghny.
The most prominent leader in Yemen’s February Revolution pointed out that the tragedy of Shaddadi’s death "will remain stuck in Yemeni conscience over the next century at least."
It is noteworthy that Maj. Gen. Shaddadi was killed on Friday in clashes taken place in directorate Serwah in the province of Marib between troops of Yemen’s national army and the putschists.
On April 7, 2017, Yemen’s President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi appointed Shaddadi as a commander of the third military region, which includes the provinces of Marib and Shabwa, while its command center is located in the city of Marib. It consists of 12 combat forces.
