The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has condemned the Houthi militia for abduction of 40 opposition activists from the village of al-Haqap, in the province of Dali.
According to the condemnation statement released on Karman’s Facebook account, the practice of kidnapping is nothing but a continuation of the war the Iran-backed fascist militia declared against rights and freedoms in Yemen since the coup.
It is noteworthy that the Houthi militia has resorted to kidnapping all opponents in areas under its control, placing them in private jails and preventing their relatives and loved ones from visiting them.
A UN ceasefire between the Saudi-backed legitimate government forces and the Iran-allied Houthi militia and forces loyal to ousted president allied with it went into effect at 23:59 local time (20:59 GMT) on Wednesday.
The 72-hour truce was aimed at paving the way for talks to end a 19-month war in the Arab world's poorest country and allowing humanitarian workers to deliver badly needed aid.
Both Yemen’s warring parties have accused each other of violating a ceasefire as the United Nations tries to extend the three-day truce.
