Human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has strongly criticized the international community’s attitude towards what is happening in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
In posted shared today on social media page, Karman stated, "Instead of protecting residents in Aleppo from brutalities of Russia, Iran and Bashar Al Assad’s regime, the world tended to mediate to provide safe corridors for the displacement of civilians,” adding, “these also are partners in crime.”
Moscow and Ankara reached an "understanding" on Tuesday on organizing the evacuation of people from rebel-held areas of the Syrian city of Aleppo, Sergei Ryabkov, Russian deputy foreign minister, was quoted as saying on Wednesday by Interfax news agency (Reuters).
FSA’ legal counsel, Osama Abu Zaid, has said the agreement allows rebels and civilians out of the east of Aleppo.
As forces loyal to the Syrian regime close in on the last, most fortified districts under opposition control, pro-Syrian president troops were reported to have entered homes in the last remaining rebel strongholds in eastern Aleppo and killing civilians “on the spot”, the UN has said.
Corpses were abandoned in the streets with residents too terrified by the shelling to bury them according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
