Tawakkol Karman strongly condemns terrorist attack in Aden
Peace- and women’s rights activist Tawakkol Karman today strongly condemned the suicide attack on Yemeni soldiers gathered to receive their monthly pay in the temporary capital of Yemen's internationally recognized government on Sunday.
In a statement shared on social media early today, Karman wrote to say, "I condemn in the strongest possible terms the criminal terrorist attack taken place in Aden today, and I express my deepest condolences to the victims' families, beloved Aden and all Yemen."
She also expressed surprise over recurrence of terrorist operations that "exclusively" target National Army soldiers while receiving their salaries.
The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate accused the ousted president Ali Saleh of being behind the terrorist attacks, pointing out that Aden has been liberated from “the Houthi Saleh”, but still needs to be freed from “the ISIL Saleh".
“Only the Daeshi (ISIS) Ali Abdullah is offended by the payment of salaries to soldiers in Aden and the finger suspicion should immediately fall on him”, she said, cautioning against what she described as “his tools and informers in Aden and anywhere else.”
At least 49 soldiers were killed and 60 others were injured when a suicide bomber donated himself among them while they were gathering to receive their monthly pay in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden on Sunday. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
