The activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has cautioned Turkey against entering into a settlement as to the situation in Syria without ensuring the cease-fire across the country and that the armed opposition will not be exposed to shelling or attacks by Russia and the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
In a post shared on social media, Karman pointed out that Ankara would have accepted to play the role of false witness if there are no Turkish-Russian understandings regarding the situation in Syria, following the disgraceful settlement in which Turkey participated on Aleppo.
From Karman’s point of view, the cease-fire should include an end to all military operations across the country so that the armed opposition is no longer bombed or attacked by Russia and the Al Assad regime.
Otherwise, she added, Turkey would simply have made a deadly mistake of which no one would be able to withstand the consequences.
Karman concluded by saying, “The truth of the matter will come out in the next few days.”
