The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has expressed condolences on the killing of Yemen's deputy chief of staff.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page, Karman saluted Major General Ahmed Saif al-Yafei as one of the great military commanders who have adhered to their military honor and homeland defense in the face of the flood of the Houthi militia and arrogance of ousted president.
“I extend my sincere condolences to the family and relatives of al-Yafei, and to Yemen’s people who today lost another hero while passed away while fighting to regain the stolen state from thieves,” said Karman.
She pointed out that sacrifices of al-Yafei and his comrades in arms will never be lost, but will blossom into freedom, independence and a state for all Yemenis.
It’s worth mentioning that Yemen's deputy chief of staff was killed on Wednesday when the Iran-backed Houthi militia battling government forces fired a ballistic missile at an army camp on the Red Sea coast.
According to Reuters, Major General Ahmed Saif al-Yafei was killed along with several others when the missile hit the camp near al-Mokha city early Wednesday.
