Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has called for a sustainable peace and immediate cessation of war in Yemen, demanding the United Nations to bring relief and aid to Yemenis.
In a speech delivered at the Geneva Human Rights Film Festival on Friday, Karman said, “I call for a comprehensive assistance to save the lives of millions of Yemenis from starvation."
Karman stressed that the solution of Yemen’s conflict lies in returning to the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue conference and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
She pointed out that that 2011’s popular youth revolution was “an inevitable necessity to unseat a desolate regime that had turned the country into a dynastical and failed state ruled by corruption, bribery, and nepotism.”
“We refuse to choose between dictatorship or chaos and killings; between dictatorship and terrorism,” Mrs. Karman.
