Tawakkol Karman: Khan Shaykhun’s massacre is further proof that Bashar al-Assad’s regime is determined to pursue its destructive policies
The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has said that the massacre of Khan Shaykhun in Idlib, where children and women died due to poisonous gas attack in that horrific way, is further proof that Bashar al-Assad’s regime is determined to pursue its destructive policies against Syrians.
Karman pointed out that al-Assad’s regime has taken advantage of the world’ changing position towards it.
The Syrian interim government announced the killing of 100 people, including women and children, following the bombing of the town of Khan Shaykhun with the use of poison gas by the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
"The regime of the criminal Bashar al-Assad is fighting an unequal war with the Syrian people because he believes that he will go unpunished,” said Tawakkol Karman in a statement shared on Facebook.
“Al-Assad has undervalued the lives of innocents, therefore he should be punished and brought to trial, as there is no way to bring peace to Syria without punishing the heads of crimes, especially al-Assad’s regime and terrorist,” Karman concluded.
