Tawakkol Karman: Death sentence against journalist al-Jubaihi is gross violation added to Saleh-Houthi militias’ record
The death sentence handed down by the Houthi militia and ousted president against the journalist Yahya Abdel-Raqib al-Jubaihi is another gross violation added to
the list of violations the coup’s fascist alliance has committed against Yemenis, said the human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman.
In a statement published on her official Facebook page, Karman wrote saying, “The coup has committed shocking violations whose first victims have been press freedoms and journalistic milieu.”
Mrs. Karman pointed out that dozens of journalists have been either killed or forcibly disappeared, all opposing media outlets have been shut down, electronic media have been blocked and some of social media activists have been killed or disappeared.
"I condemn this barbarism and salute the struggle of our people for freedom, and to bring down this fascism," she added.
She indicated that Saleh-Houthi militias are “criminal gangs that invaded our cities and overthrew our state by force, but our people has been in the process of bringing them down forever.”
The coup’s alliance represented by the Iran-backed militia and ousted president today issued a death sentence against the journalist al-Jubaihi on charges of communicating with foreign states. Observers have considered it absurd and ridiculous judgment that is lacking in basic principles of logic.
The Houthi militia had abducted the journalist al-Jubaihi from his home in the capital Sanaa early September last year, only days after the arrest of his son, Hamza al-Jubaihi.
