The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has called upon Yemeni legitimate government in exile to provide all possible facilities and support for the relief of militia-held capital of Sanaa and other areas affected by the cholera epidemic.
In a statement posted on social media, Karman said that the legitimate authority is responsible for all Yemenis who have already been fully aware of this fact.
Mrs. Karman has also indicated that “even the minority that was seized with slogans of the coup d'état has known that they have fallen victim to a cursed myth and a brutal coup.
In a press conference held at the headquarters of ICRC in Sana'a, director of Operations for the International Committee of the Red Cross, Dominik Stillhart, has explained that "the cholera outbreak in Yemen has killed 115 since 27 April based on the latest statistics’, adding that there are 8500 cholera sufferers recorded in 14 Yemeni provinces.
According to Reuters, the capital Sanaa was worst hit, with 34.6 percent of the cases, followed by the surrounding province with 12 percent, the data showed. Cases were also reported in Yemen's other major cities: Hodeidah, Hajjah, Ibb, Taiz and Aden.
