The human rights activist and Nobel peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has condemned the Houthi militia and ousted president Ali Saleh for targeting journalists while covering battles in Taiz.
A new crime has been committed against journalism in Yemen when the militias of Houthis and ousted president Saleh targeted a gathering place of journalists while covering battles in Taiz province, Karman stated in a post on social media.
She pointed out to the killing of three photojournalists and the injury of two others, including a photojournalist whose leg was amputated, in a deadly attack by the Houthi militia in Taiz province.
The targeted journalists are Wael al-Absi, Taqy al-Din al-Huthaifi, Sa’ad al-Nazari, Waleed al-Qadsi and Salah al-Zahbani.
“This is not the first time the coup’s militias deliberately targeted journalists who struggle to uncover the truth and report violations and atrocities to the world,” Mrs. explained.
Karman expressed her sincere condolences to the families and friends of the truth’s martyrs, and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.
