Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has been invited to participate in a major event held next month in Mexico.
In participation of Mexico’s former president Vicente Fox Quesada, the event entitled “Thinking in 21st Century” will be held during the period from 22-25 August.
Beside Yemen’s Nobel Peace laureate and former Mexican president, senior figures from inside and outside Mexico will attend for discussion of of topics like populism and future as new challenges to liberal democracy.
The conference organized by the university “la Universidad Autónoma del Caribe” coincides with the annual anniversary of the founding of the university.
According to the organizers of this activity, Tawakkol Kerman will talk about the future of the media, while Guatemalan activist Gloria Alvarez will shed light on the truth, the media and young people.
Former President Vicente Fox Quesada will focus on populism in Latin America.
"It is important to open such discussions," said Roxana Buitrago, director of the International Relations Office of la Universidad Autónoma del Caribe.
Buitrago pointed out that this is the third version of “Thinking in 21st Century”, where important figures and experts are brought together in order to address urgent issues related to the contemporary world during the four-day forum.
