Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has called for the reopening of all Yemeni airports and ports as a very urgent necessity and a top priority.
The demand comes in response to the United Nations’ call for the reopening of Sanaa International Airport as an essential step to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis and provide them with humanitarian aid.
“The reopening of Sana airport is essential to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population,” Jamie McGoldrick, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator for Yemen, said in a Twitter post on Wednesday.
"Not only Sana'a airport is closed to flights," Karman said on her Facebook.
Karman noted that the rest of the country's airports and ports have been also closed to Yemenis and under the control of the invading UAE forces and the UAE-affiliated armed militias, which the UAE formed without the knowledge of the legitimate authority.
