The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has urged Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to put an end to the military role plaid by the United Arab Emirates as part of Saudi-led military coalition, whose operations have been ongoing in Yemen since March 2015.
“It is a crying shame that the UAE has occupied parts of our country, Karman stated in a statement published recently on social media.
She stressed that Yemeni people will struggle and stand up against any external or internal occupation.
In recent report, Human Rights Watch has mentioned that The UAE supports Yemeni forces that have arbitrarily detained, forcibly disappeared, tortured, and abused dozens of people during security operations.
HRW also pointed out that the UAE runs at least two informal detention facilities, and its officials appear to have ordered the continued detention of people despite release orders, and forcibly disappeared people.
