Nobel Peace laureate and human rights defender Tawakkol Karman has said that what is happening to the Rohingya population in Burma is a holocaust against humanity, pointing out that the international silence is unjustified.
"What is happening to the Rohingyas is a disgrace to all humanity," Karman said in a statement to France 24, calling for the immediate cessation of atrocities.
Karman voiced regret over the silence of Myanmar Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi, stressing that Nobel Peace laurates has repeatedly called on her to carry out her duties and to respond to calls and demands to stop what the Rohingyas are subjected to.
"I, along with my Nobel Peace Prize laureates, continue to urge her to carry out her duties and defend the values she used to speak up for while in the opposition," Karman concluded.
