Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman stated that the military coalition led by United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia has become an occupier of Yemen after it intervened militarily under the pretext to help the legitimate authority dislodge the Houthi militia.

The statement came as response to remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Anwar Gargash, who considered Mrs. Tawakkol Karman’s speech at the "One World for Youth" summit in the Colombian capital of Bogota as "opportunistic."

"You are occupying the great Yemen. You keep besieging, bombarding, killing and starving its people, as well as exiling its legitimate authority by not allowing it to return to Yemen, but you lie when claiming otherwise," wrote Karman on Twitter.
