Nobel Peace laureate calls on Riyadh to immediately stop striking Yemen and release President Hadi
Nobel Peace laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has called upon Saudi Arabia, which is leading a military coalition in Yemen, to stop striking Yemen and release President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Karman pointed out in a statement on social media that President Hadi has been under house arrest in his exile in Riyadh, which claims to have intervened militarily in the country with the aim of restoring legitimacy.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab coalition to allegedly restore the legitimate authority represented by Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to power, and dislodge the Houthi militia and its close ally ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
