Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman today revealed that the coup carried out by the Houthi militia and forces loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh in September 2014 was funded by the UAE, and with Saudi blessing.
The Arab military coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, is now holding the legitimacy and occupying strategic parts of the country after putting it under a suffocating siege from all sides, Karman said on her Facebook page.
She pointed out that the coalition has killed tens civilians, mostly women and children, during three years of the war under the pretext that it intervened militarily to restore the legitimate authority to power.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab coalition to allegedly restore the legitimate authority represented by Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to power, and dislodge the Houthi militia and its close ally ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
