Nobel Peace laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman said the military intervention in Yemen by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition has become illegal and therefore everything it does is also unlawful.
In a statement published on her official Facebook page, Karman stressed the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates tells an outright lie when claiming its intervention in Yemen has come in response to the legitimate government's call for help.
The coalition has controlled all areas, airports, ports and islands that have been liberated from the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, refusing to hand them over to the legitimate authority represented by President Hadi who is also prevented from returning to Yemen’s temporary capital Aden, she explained.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading a vicious war with the alleged aim of restoring the legitimate authority overthrown in a coup carried out by the Houthi militia and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The war has received widespread criticism and had a dramatic worsening effect on the humanitarian situation, that reached the level of a "humanitarian disaster".
