Tawakkol Karman calls upon Saudi-led coalition to lift siege on Yemen and end house arrest on President Hadi
The Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, today launched a scathing attack on the Arab coalition led by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, describing it as an occupier and warning him against continuing with the siege of Yemen.
Mrs. Karman in a statement on Twitter called upon the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia to release President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, hand over all areas it has controlled and lift the siege on the Yemeni people.
In related context, she pointed out that those, who have escaped death caused by warplanes of UAE and Saudi alliance, die out of their siege, stressing that "these crimes against our people will not go unpunished."
Saudi Arabia and its allies, which receive logistical and intelligence help from the United States, claim they are fighting in Yemen in order to restore to power the internationally government represented by the legitimate president Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi after the Iranian Houthi militia backed by forces loyal to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh led their coup and took over the capital Sana’a in 2014.
