The Nobel Peace laureate and activist Tawakkol Karman strongly condemned the arbitrary detention of human rights activist Abdulrasheed al-Faqeeh at a checkpoint controlled by pro-government security men in Marib governorate in eastern Yemen.  

In a statement of condemnation posted on social media, Karman considered the incident unacceptable and irresponsible, calling on the concerned authorities to respect human rights. 

Karman called on human rights advocates and activists at home and abroad to voice solidarity and support for Al Faqeeh.
