The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and activist Tawakkol Karman said that Yemen’s legitimacy and President Hadi have lost their ability to make decisions in favor of a coalition that has deviated from its declared goals that have nothing to do with supporting or restoring the lost state in Yemen. 

Karman’s statement has come in response to the UAE’s alleged temporary cessation of Hodeida’s battle on Yemen’s Red Sea coast, as declared early this month by the UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash. 

"If the UAE’s Gargash is the one who is authorized to make the decision of peace and war in Hodeidah, he and his country, but not the legitimate Yemeni government, will be the ones who will determine what to do in any peace agreement with the Iranian-backed Houthi militia,” Karman wrote to say. 

She added that Hadi has recently returned to Aden, but neither the UAE has changed its policies and positions on the internationally recognized legitimacy, nor Saudi Arabia or the coalition has corrected their course in Yemen.

What could Hadi and the government do when they discover that their return to the country is useless and that the local anti-legitimacy actors are as usual ready for any sign form the UAE to turn the page of Hadi and his government?, Karman wondered. 

The Nobel laureate warned also that the president may not continue in power if he does not wake up early and prevent himself from “the UAE’s next ambush”.
