The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has strongly condemned New Zealand mosque terrorist attack by extreme-right terrorist individuals, which have claimed lives of scores of dead and wounded. 

Mrs. Karman noted that such act “comes as a result of the escalation of hate campaigns and systematic incitement against Islam in the West, with silence and indifference by governments.”

"I condemn this horrific atrocity crime, and I extend my condolences to the people of the martyrs, the Islamic nation and all mankind,” she wrote on social media. 

A gunman opened fire at two mosques in the city of Christchurch, killing at least 50 people. 

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Sunday that the suspect charged in the Christchurch shootings, an Australian citizen, would be tried in New Zealand.
